Purposes
Available in Version 2 & 1.
A purpose, as defined in the TCF, is an individually-consentable data usage. To be able to process personal data, for a purpose, a given vendor has to have a legal ground as defined in the GDPR.
The TCF manages Legitimate interest and consent as legal ground to the personal data processing.

Features
Available in Version 2 & 1.
Features are particular data usage spanning over multiple purposes. They are provided as an information but are not individually consentable.
Special Purposes
Available in Version 2 only.
A special purpose is a purpose for processing personal data on which the end-user is not given a choice in the CMP.
The special purposes where created so that the vendors applying to the TCF can have a legal ground to the technically required personal data processing (such as the usage of the IP in an HTTP exchange).
Special Features
Available in Version 2 only.
A special feature is a feature used for one or multiple purposes for which the user is given the choice to opt-in separately.
The special features where created in order to collect a specific opt-in for the collection and processing of data considered as sensible under the GDPR.
Stacks
Available in Version 2 only.
A stack is a set to group more granular purposes or Special Features.
The stacks where created in order to ease the informations provided to the end-user while still giving the granularity of choice.
