What does it change for my users ?
Integrating Choice Manager into your app or website allows your users to make a choice regarding their personal data sharing.
After the successful integration, your users will see the consent notice as shown in the preview of your asset's consent settings.
Does Choice Manager come within the Ogury SDK?
Yes, Choice Manager is part of the standard Ogury SDK.
What is the impact of moving from TCF V1 to TCF V2 ?
TCF V2 being more granular and giving more choices to the end-user than TCF V1, the IAB requires that all CMPs, display a full consent notice again to all users regardless of their previous consent status in TCF V1.
How do I pass consent from Choice Manager to my monetization platform (if not using Ogury Intelligent Monetization)?
If the vendor is not using the IAB TCF, you will need to share the consent status with the vendor SDK if they have an API to do so or prevent their SDK from loading until the user has given consent for the vendor and its purposes. This has to be done manually for every vendor.
If the vendor is using the IAB TCF, you can pass the IAB string value to the vendor using their API.
Please contact your vendor partner to find out which is applicable.
For integration examples, please refer to the relevant integration documentation.
How do I collect consent for companies providing analytics solutions processing personal data ?
It depends on how these companies are qualifying themselves in regard to this data processing. Under the GDPR, they can either be Processor or Controller.
Controllers : these companies need to have a specific consent and needs to be added to the list of vendors.
Processors : it means the data is under your control, you need to collect a consent for yourself for the purpose needed for this Analytics solution.
Example
Let's assume you are using firebase in your application to have more insights on your users' profiles.
Firebase is declared as a processor. (source: https://firebase.google.com/support/privacy/#firebase_is_gdpr-ready)
It means, your are in control of the data collected and used and need to have legal ground to do so. The legal ground is most likely, in this case, to be consent. Therefore, you need to collect a specific consent to be able to start this service for a particular user.
The next step, when using Choice Manager is to declare yourself as a data collector and add the purpose "Measurement" and "Information storage and access".
You will then be able to start the related firebase service only for users who gave their consent on these 2 purposes and on your registered vendor.
How can I resurface the consent notice on the same device ?
Choice Manager links the consent signal to the advertising id of the user (aaid on Android, idfa on iOS). These identifiers can be reset on the device and on the next ask call, the consent notice will be displayed.
For web asset, you can resurface the consent notice by clearing your cookies.
I am based outside GDPR zone and I want to display the consent notice only for GDPR area. How can I test the right integration/behavior of the consent notice ?
Choice Manager determines the country of the user by using the IP. In order to fake your location inside the GDPR area and see the consent notice, you can use a VPN solution.
I have a feedback/new idea for the Choice Manager product. What is the point of contact ?
We would be happy to hear from you ! Please contact us at consent@ogury.co
